Guidance for authors wishing to quote from the Society’s archives

This page provides guidance for authors wishing to quote from the Society's books and archives. Formal permission in writing must be requested for each proposed publication prior to any printing.

Requests for permission should be accompanied by sufficient of the author’s material to determine its nature and usage, i.e. a full manuscript or synopsis with the proposed quotations highlighted.

Authors should also provide details of the format of the proposed publication — book, e-book, magazine, webzine etc. — together with the area and period of time of publication for which the rights are requested (i.e. UK or worldwide).

The grant of any permission is at the discretion of the Study Society.

A formal letter granting permission will set out the required formats for citation and attribution.
